Visit our cartlodge at Huws Gray, Sudbury

Updated: Aug 11

We’ve teamed up with Huws Gray to display one of our cartlodges on its site, giving potential customers a unique opportunity to see, touch and experience it for themselves.

Ridgeons (now called Huws Gray), is a family firm established in Cambridge in 1911, is now one of the UK’s largest independent timber and builders merchants with more than 20 branches around the East of England, making it the perfect choice of showground for a Stour Valley Oak cartlodge.

Located outside of the town centre, the Sudbury branch of Huws Gray is easy to access with plenty of parking, giving our customers the opportunity to spend as much time as they like experiencing one of our cartlodges, in a quiet environment without any pressure to buy.

At Stour Valley Oak, we’re immensely proud of the quality of the materials and precision craftsmanship that goes into making each and every one of our cartlodges, which is why we wanted our potential customers to be able to view one firsthand. There’s nothing like seeing and touching something before you invest and we feel that the tactile nature of our hand forged oak frames are best appreciated in person.

“We want people to be able to see the quality of our oak and the beauty of our designs in order to get a feel for the space, scope and versatility our cartlodges offer.” Mark Farrell, Stour Valley Oak director

Five great reasons to visit our cartlodge

  1. See it, touch it, experience it: “A cartlodge is a big purchase, so being able to physically see what you are going to get will provide you with the confidence to make a decision about your purchase,” explains company director Paul Street. “Potential customers should definitely come and have a look at it,” adds co-director Mark Farrell. “It gives a great idea for what the finished product looks and feels like. You can spend as much time as you like enjoying the cartlodge and getting inspiration for your own build, plus it’s a great opportunity to see the space it offers.”

  2. No pressure to buy: “We don’t need to ‘sell’ our Cartlodges,” explains Paul. “The product does that by itself.” At Stour Valley Oak we don’t believe in having showrooms with pushy sales people; instead we’d rather you look at an example of one of our cartlodges in your own time (you can pop over to Huws Gray at any time during their opening hours), then contact us when you’re ready to discuss your ideas.

  3. Our most popular cartlodge: We’ve displayed one of the most requested models from our Constable range of cartlodges. The two-bay cartlodge, which features a catslide, tiled roof is a great example of what we offer. Don’t forget though, here at Stour Valley Oak we offer lots of different design options and each can be fully customised to meet your requirements; have a look at our full range here.

  4. Get inspired: While you’re over at Huws Gray viewing our cartlodge, why not pop into the store and get some inspiration for cartlodge roofing, light fittings and finishing accessories. The ability to see and touch different tiles, fittings and fixtures is really important when choosing the style that’s right for your cartlodge.

  5. We’ll meet you there: We’re frequently asked if one of our team can meet a perspective customer at the cartlodge. In short, the answer is ‘yes’! We’re always very happy to pop along to discuss the cartlodge, point out it’s lovely features and talk through ideas with our customers.

“Customer service is really important to us at Stour Valley Oak, so we’re always happy to meet new customers on the Huws Gray site and discuss the cartlodge with them. It’s important to us that we have a really great relationship with our clients, so meeting them is a great starting point for helping them plan their perfect oak framed cartlodge.” Paul Street, Stour Valley Oak director
